Classroom Interventions for Behavior: Virtual Power Hours

With limited time for professional development and an increase in the number of students exhibiting concerning behavior in many schools, Safe & Civil Schools is offering four virtual Power Hour sessions on Wednesdays throughout October. These sessions offer practical ideas that can make a difference in your classroom tomorrow.

In each of the four virtual sessions, Jessica Sprick will explore a specific topic designed to help teachers and other staff encourage responsible student behavior in the classroom. Each is a stand-alone one-hour session. Sign up for any topics that interest you:

Session times: 3:30 pm to 4:30 pm PT / 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm MT / 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm CT / 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm ET

Power Hour Books

Course price is for a single registrant seat and includes a copy of Teacher’s Encyclopedia. Please include the email address and shipping address for each individual registrant during checkout. We recommend using your home address, if possible—deliveries to a school or district address are occasionally lost or returned.

Register by September 27  to ensure you receive the course book before the start of the first Power Hour session. (For addresses outside the United States, register by September 13.)

If you are registering for individual sessions:

  • Session 1 (October 4): Register by September 27 to receive your book by October 2.
  • Session 2 (October 11): Register by October 2 to receive your book by October 9.
  • Session 3 (October 18): Register by October 9 to receive your book by October 16.
  • Session 4 (October 25): Register by October 16 to receive your book by October 23.

  • Jessica Sprick

    Jessica Sprick is a consultant and presenter for Safe & Civil Schools and a writer for Ancora Publishing. Ms. Sprick has been a special education teacher for students with behavioral needs and Dean of Students at the middle school level. Her practical experience working with special and general education students and staff, along with strong training in positive behavior support techniques, drives her passion to help school personnel develop and implement effective classroom management plans.

  • Randy Sprick

    Randy Sprick has worked as a paraprofessional, teacher, and teacher trainer at the elementary and secondary levels. Author of a number of widely read books on behavior and classroom management, Randy is former director of Safe & Civil Schools, a consulting company that provides inservice programs throughout the country. Although Randy is largely retired, his Safe & Civil Schools colleagues continue the work of helping large and small school districts improve student behavior and motivation. Efficacy of that work is documented in peer-reviewed research, and Safe & Civil Schools materials are listed on the National Registry of Evidence-Based Programs and Practices (NREPP). Randy was the recipient of the 2007 Council for Exceptional Children (CEC) Wallin Lifetime Achievement Award and was inducted into the Direct Instruction Hall of Fame, along with numerous other awards and honors.
