Learn to teach The Third Quest’s Parallel Universe with success. This short 41-lesson reading intervention for students in grades 4 to 12 provides scientifically based reading instruction in a motivating context. Streaming video instruction is combined with teacher-directed lessons. Students systematically work on Word Study exercises (rebuilding foundational reading skills), building fluency, engaging in building sophisticated vocabulary, narrative and informational passage reading, and comprehension building.

VIRTUAL TRAINING 
Marilyn Sprick will meet with participants via a 3-hour web meeting to simulate live and in-person training as much as possible. Sessions will not be recorded so participants can feel comfortable working interactively. Participants will learn about:

  • Programming and rationale
  • Implementation options
  • Teaching the program and cheerleading
  • Problem solving with internal progress monitoring
  • Working diagnostically by listening to students

 

WHO SHOULD ATTEND
Educators—teachers, specialists, instructional assistants, literacy coaches, and administrators working to treat/remediate reading deficits (fourth grade through high school)

 

CANCELLATIONS

ORDER MATERIALS FOR INSTRUCTION
The Third Quest: one set of Teacher’s Materials for each instructor and a set of Student Materials for each student.

The Parallel Universe: one Coach’s Manual for each instructor), one Student Logbook for each student, and 12-month streaming video license for each school (provides access for any adult working with a student in your school).

 

VIRTUAL WORKSHOP FAQ

  • Live virtual workshop will be conducted via Zoom. Please look for a confirmation email from Zoom upon order completion. Please let us know if you don’t receive the link.
  • Course price is for a single registrant and included materials. Please include the email address and shipping address for each individual registrant during checkout (materials will ship to the address provided).
  • Sessions will not be recorded, so you must attend each live session.
